WHSB pupils hit the slopes of Bardonecchia, Italy

Last weekend, eighty pupils departed from WHSB for the slopes of Bardonecchia, Italy. Although many of them had never skied before, the pupils have made fantastic progress during the half term break, with many beginners quickly leaving the nursery slopes to join the intermediate groups higher up the mountain. Across the week, intermediate and advanced groups have been exploring even more of the resort, including many red runs.
Following staff led warm up sessions in the morning, the morning Ski School runs from 9-11am, with lunch at midday. The pupils have been enthusiastic and organised in following their programme of activities, returning to their afternoon skiing from 1-3pm. The lunch offered is a traditional pasta course followed by a main course, which is replicated at dinner.
In WHSB tradition, spanning over 30 years, Tour Awards have been made. This year the Award takes the form of the 'Crab Hat', which highlights the most amusing and memorable moment on the slopes each day. Whether it is a funny, clumsy mishap or a spectacular wipe-out, this Award is given in the spirit of fun. It has been a great way to reflect on the day with smiles, laughter, and appreciation for the resilience and good humour of our skiers.
Our thanks to Mr Tresidder and the other staff involved in organising these activities, and for supporting the pupils as they are learning their new skills.
