Lower & Middle School
At WHSB we want our pupils to know and understand the world around them. By setting the highest academic expectations and encouraging each pupil’s sense of self-worth and well-being, we aim to unlock their potential and equip them for adult life.
We are passionate about our sense of community and value each individual and their contribution. We promote understanding and awareness of spiritual, social and cultural diversity and the need for mutual respect. We understand that joining a new school can be daunting for both pupils and parents and we regard every individual as a unique member of our community, working hard to effect a smooth transition such that every new pupil soon feels happy and settled at school. During their time at WHSB we seek to inculcate in our pupils a love of learning that will stay with them for their whole lives. Our entire philosophy is underpinned by our Learner Profile.
From their first day at WHSB pupils are encouraged to aspire to be the best they can be. The School is committed to encouraging every pupil to maximize his progress. A WHSB education is underpinned by a pastoral system which meets the changing needs of our pupils from their carefully phased induction into Year 7 through to their completion of Sixth Form study. Each phase of a pupil’s education is supported by the work of our Lower (Years 7 to 9), Middle (Years 10 and 11) and Sixth Form Pastoral Offices. Each office is overseen by a Director of School who leads a dedicated team of Progress Leaders and a full time Pastoral Tutor. Parents can contact the offices directly (by letter or telephone) if they wish to discuss any aspect of their child’s education and wellbeing. Please note that the School does not respond to email communications.
