WHSB’s new Charity Committee is now in full swing, running events to support the School’s chosen local charities for 2024/2025: HARP, Southend’s homeless charity, and Havens Hospices, which provides specialist care and support for people of all ages who are living with incurable conditions, and their families.

Last Friday lunchtime in the Sports Hall, members of the School Community were invited to watch Sixth Form students and Teachers competing in a charity fundraising Dodgeball Tournament. A match between the staff teams was followed by a Sixth Form match. With skill and speed displayed by both students and staff, everyone was a winner and a good time was had by all! We are grateful to those participating for the fabulous entertainment, and to our spectators for their enthusiastic support.

We give our particular thanks to Mr Chanut, Mr Rayment, Mr Madrid (Staff Team 1) and Mr Buckley, Mr Hiller and Mr Gutierrez (Staff Team 2). Well done to our Lower Sixth Charity Committee members, Nevin (Chair), Laiose (Vice Chair), Quinn, Theo, Amina and Ifeoma for organising the event, and to those Sixth Form students who took part.
