Staff Volunteers in Westcliff High School for Boys' Combined Cadet Force (CCF) have been awarded the prestigious King’s Coronation Medal, in recognition of their longstanding commitment to the CCF and their respective services. The King's Coronation Medal is the first medal issued during the reign of King Charles III, celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla on 6 May 2023. Awarding medals marking Royal celebrations as a token of the Nation’s thanks has a long history, the first being awarded in 1887 to mark the 50th year of Queen Victoria’s reign.
The King’s Coronation Medal is awarded to individuals who have shown outstanding dedication to the Cadet Forces across the UK, its cadets, and its values. They were required to have had five full years of service within the organisation and to have been in active service on 6 May 2023. The medal recognises sustained excellence, leadership, and the ability to inspire and mentor young people within the cadet movement. Those in receipt are: Lt Col A Baggs, Capt K Allard, Capt J Bleakley, Lt H Tresidder and SLt P Sell. We are proud of their outstanding and dedicated service to our CCF, and offer our congratulations to all!
