Upper Sixth Physical Education Class ran the ‘Half for Havens’ half marathon
Congratulations to the Upper Sixth Physical Education Class who ran the ‘Half for Havens’ half marathon in July this year in aid of Havens Hospices, one of the local charities the School supports.
We are proud of the Team, who raised an impressive £3,301.80 for Havens, which provides palliative nursing and supportive care to adults and children living with complex or incurable conditions across Essex.
This month, the School celebrated the Team’s outstanding achievement through a whole School Assembly, led by Quinn (Upper Sixth), during which each team member received a medal and certificate, presented by a representative from Havens.
The Team trained hard for the 13.7-mile route, which started and finished at Westcliff High School for Boys, and passed the Havens and Little Havens Hospice sites on the way. Thank you to all the generous supporters who helped the Team to far exceed their initial fundraising target of £1,000. A cheque for the funds raised was presented to Havens at the end of our Assembly.
Well done to all involved, including Mr Futcher, Head of Physical Education, who joined the students for their run.
